Wedding catering that’s planned properly, as well as served beautifully

Great wedding food matters, but it’s the planning behind it that makes the difference on the day.

We approach wedding catering with the same care and structure as the food itself. From timings and logistics to dietary requirements and final numbers, everything is considered early and confirmed clearly, so there are no last-minute decisions and no unnecessary pressure.

What this means for you:

  • Menus designed around your day, your venue and your guest experience

  • Clear planning milestones, with final details confirmed well in advance

  • Dietary requirements handled carefully and communicated across the team

  • An experienced on-the-day point of contact, so you’re never managing suppliers

  • A calm, professional service that allows the day to unfold exactly as planned

It’s a considered approach that gives you confidence, clarity and the freedom to enjoy your wedding without feeling responsible for running it.

How our wedding catering works

We keep the process clear and considered, guiding you through each stage so decisions are made at the right time, without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

Step 1 - An initial conversation

We begin with a relaxed conversation about your wedding plans, your venue and the kind of experience you want to create for your guests. This allows us to understand what matters most to you before discussing menus or costs.

Step 2 - Menu design

Using that conversation as a starting point, we design a bespoke, seasonal menu that suits your day, your timings and your guest profile. Every menu is built from scratch, rather than chosen from a set list. We also share sample menus on our website to give a sense of style and approach.

Step 3 - Your tasting

Once your menu is taking shape, you’ll be invited to a tasting. This is an opportunity to enjoy the food, refine details and feel confident in the choices you’re making, well ahead of the day itself.

Step 4 - Final planning

As your wedding approaches, we confirm timings, final numbers and dietary requirements clearly and in advance. We liaise with your venue and other suppliers where needed, ensuring everything is aligned and ready.

Step 5 - On the day

On the day of your wedding, our experienced team take care of delivery, service and coordination. With a dedicated point of contact managing the catering, you’re free to enjoy the celebration, knowing everything is in safe hands.

Wedding food, shaped around your day

Every wedding we cater is different, and the food should reflect that. Rather than offering fixed packages, we design menus that fit the flow of your day, your venue, and the way you want your guests to experience it.

From relaxed canapés to a refined wedding breakfast and thoughtfully planned evening food, each element is considered as part of the whole, ensuring the day feels seamless from start to finish.

Canapés & drinks receptions

Canapés are often the first taste your guests experience and an important moment while you’re having photographs or greeting friends and family.

Our canapé menus are designed to:

- Set the tone for the day

- Encourage guests to mingle comfortably

- Feel generous without being overwhelming

We focus on balance, flavour and ease of service, ensuring everything arrives beautifully presented and at the right pace.

Wedding breakfast

The wedding breakfast is the heart of the celebration and where careful planning makes the biggest difference.

Menus are designed around:

- Your timings and style of service

- The season and best available produce

- Your guests’ needs and dietary requirements

Whether you’re planning a plated meal, sharing-style service or something more informal, we ensure the food complements the atmosphere of the day and is delivered with calm, attentive service.

Evening food

As the day moves into the evening, food should feel relaxed, satisfying and perfectly timed.

Evening menus are planned to:

- Suit the energy of the celebration

- Work smoothly around speeches, dancing and music

- Give guests something genuinely enjoyable, not an afterthought

Everything is coordinated with the wider timeline so it enhances the evening rather than interrupting it.

Dietary requirements & guest care

Dietary requirements are handled as part of the menu design process, not added on at the end.

We take time to understand your guest list and plan accordingly, ensuring vegetarian, vegan and allergen requirements are catered for with the same care and attention as every other dish. Clear communication across the team means guests are served confidently and discreetly on the day.

Menus as inspiration

We share sample menus to give a sense of style, flavour and approach, but every wedding menu is created individually.

Your menu will always be shaped around your day, rather than chosen from a fixed list.

Tastings, at the right stage of the process

Our tastings are designed to help you finalise your menu with confidence, not to rush decisions before the planning has properly begun.

For couples who have booked us to cater their wedding, tastings are included as part of the process. Once your date is secured and contracts are in place, you’ll be invited to a private tasting at Salters HQ, hosted just for you.

These are one-to-one tastings, not group sessions. They give you the space to enjoy the food properly, talk through details and refine your menu in a relaxed, unhurried setting.

It’s a considered experience that allows you to focus on flavour, balance and presentation, knowing the wider planning is already in hand.

If you’d like to taste before booking

We understand that some couples prefer to experience the food before making a final decision.

In these cases, private tastings at Salters HQ are available for a fee. If you go on to book your wedding catering with us, the cost of the tasting is deducted from your final catering invoice.

This approach allows us to give every tasting the same level of care and attention, while keeping the process fair and considered for all our couples.

What to expect from your tasting

- A private tasting prepared for you as a couple

- A menu selection shaped around your proposed wedding plans

- Time to discuss flavours, structure and guest experience

- Guidance from an experienced member of our team

- Space to refine ideas without pressure or rushed decisions

Tastings are about reassurance, refinement and confidence, helping you move forward knowing the food is in safe hands.

Pricing, shaped by your wedding

No two weddings are the same, and neither are the costs involved in catering them properly.

Rather than offering fixed packages, we price each wedding individually, based on the food, service and level of support required to deliver your day exactly as planned.

Our role is to help you understand where your investment is going, what genuinely makes a difference to the guest experience, and how to make confident, informed decisions without compromising on what matters.

What influences the cost of wedding catering

Pricing is shaped by a number of factors, including:

Your menu design
The style of food, number of courses, ingredients used and level of preparation involved.

Guest numbers
Which affect food quantities, staffing levels and equipment requirements.

Style of service
Canapés, plated dining, sharing-style service, evening food and drinks receptions all require different levels of planning and staffing.

Staffing & on-the-day coordination
Experienced front-of-house teams, kitchen staff and calm coordination to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Venue logistics
Access, kitchen facilities, timings, restrictions and whether a full temporary kitchen needs to be built.

Hire & equipment
Crockery, glassware, cutlery, linens and kitchen equipment not supplied by the venue.

Every element is considered carefully so there are no surprises later in the process.

A realistic guide to investment

As a guide:

- Three-course fine dining menus typically start from £85 per person (inclusive of VAT)

- Canapés are priced from £30 per person (inclusive of VAT) for up to nine canapés

Staffing, hire, logistics and any additional elements are costed separately, based on the specific needs of your wedding and venue.

Once we understand your plans, we’ll provide a clear, detailed proposal so you can see exactly how everything comes together.

Most of our weddings fall within a carefully planned, mid-to-high investment range, reflecting the level of food, service and coordination involved.

Real words from couples we’ve worked with, from planning through to the day itself.

Salters were everything we could have wanted and more with out wedding caterers. Robyn and Ian were supportive in every step of the way and made helpful suggestions with lots of options. With the running of the day, they were always on hand and helped take away all stresses. On top of all that, the food was by far the best food that I have ever had at a wedding (we are so happy that it was at ours) and our wedding cake was ridiculously delicious.
— Emma W.

Robyn and Ian are incredibly talented, and I’m so happy we got to have them cater our wedding. Robyn is an amazing communicator and made sure very early on in the process that we had a menu that would fit our needs and taste. We were well informed, every step of the way.
Now onto the best bit: the food was simply remarkable. The ingredients, the creative choices, the presentation... Everything was incredible. Some of the guests are quite difficult to please, and everyone was very impressed and kept asking for more. The leftovers disappeared very quickly as well.
Last but not least - we were also very amazed at the professionalism of the staff who came to help and serve the food on the day. Couldn’t have dreamt a better service.
— Hélène P.

I cannot recommend Robyn and Ian enough. They catered our wedding and I honestly can’t fault them. They made it feel that we were dealing with friends from the very start, which helped keep me sane during the wedding preparations! They were so easy to talk to, and were so knowledgeable and able to provide advice on anything we weren’t sure of.
The food quality is second to none, and we had so many compliments from our guests on the food too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone, and I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else for any other event I needed catering.
— Kate F.

There’s no obligation and no pressure to book. It’s simply a clear, honest introduction to how we work, so you can move forward with confidence.

  • You don’t need to have everything decided before speaking with us.

We work regularly across London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex, including private homes, marquees, historic venues and dry-hire spaces. If you’ve already secured your venue, we’ll work closely with them to understand logistics, timings and kitchen facilities. If you’re still exploring options, we’re happy to share guidance and venue insight based on your plans and guest numbers.

Venue facilities play a significant role in overall cost, so having this confirmed allows us to provide accurate, transparent pricing from the outset.

  • That’s something we’ll shape together.

Rather than choosing from fixed packages, your menu is designed around your day, your venue and how you want the experience to feel. From elegant canapés and refined sharing menus to relaxed grazing and formal fine dining, we’ll help you land on a style that flows naturally from ceremony to evening.

Our sample menus are there for inspiration, not limitation.

  • Dietary needs are planned from the very start, not treated as an afterthought.

We cater confidently for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy-specific requirements, ensuring every guest feels equally considered. Wherever possible, alternative dishes mirror the main menu in style and quality, rather than feeling separate or secondary.

Final dietary information is confirmed in advance, so the day itself runs smoothly and discreetly.

  • Often, yes, and we’ll guide you through it clearly.

Depending on your venue and menu style, this may include crockery, glassware, linen, furniture or kitchen equipment. We work with trusted hire partners and will advise on exactly what’s required, what’s already included by your venue, and what isn’t necessary.

For marquees, private homes and blank-canvas spaces, we’re experienced in building fully functioning kitchens using standard power and water access.

  • We cater for weddings of varying sizes, typically up to around 150 guests.

Guest numbers influence menu structure, staffing, equipment and timings, so we’ll always talk through what works best for your scale of event. Whether you’re planning something intimate or hosting a larger celebration, the focus remains the same: smooth service, thoughtful food and a calm, well-run day.

  • If you have, great. If not, we can help.

Over the years, we’ve built strong relationships with florists, photographers, planners and hire teams we trust. We’re happy to share recommendations or collaborate with suppliers you’ve already chosen, ensuring everyone is working to the same timeline and expectations.

Good communication between suppliers makes a noticeable difference on the day.

  • Yes, and they’re private, relaxed and focused.

Once you’ve booked your wedding catering with us, we invite you to a complimentary menu tasting at Salters HQ. This is a one-to-one experience for you as a couple, designed to fine-tune flavours, portioning and flow rather than showcase large numbers of dishes.

If you’d like to taste before booking, paid tastings are available, with the cost deducted from your final bill should you go on to confirm your date.

  • Evening food is about timing and energy, not just appetite.

We offer a range of options, from informal grazing and late-night plates to more structured service, depending on how your evening unfolds. Some couples prefer self-serve options, others choose staffed service. We’ll advise on what suits your guest numbers, venue and schedule best.

  • When disposables are required, we only use eco-friendly options.

This includes compostable or sustainably sourced platters, boxes, cutlery and napkins. Our approach ensures your evening catering is practical without compromising on presentation or environmental values.

  • We work with a small, trusted network of professional suppliers.

Where possible, ingredients are sourced locally and prepared at our South East London HQ by our own chefs. Quality, consistency and reliability matter to us, and we choose partners who share that approach.
